The project is delivered in partnership with MAIA, 2 Much Passion CIC, Dawn 'Walkers' Black Heritage Walks Network CIC.
The first edition will focus on the beautiful heritage and food of the Jamaican community will be hosted by inspirational leaders in City.
Part of 'My Endz' Saturday school, Black Heritage Walks Network have created a cultural, digital experience for black children between the age of 8 to 14 in the Birmingham area.
All materials to complete this experience will be provided and posted to you.
Participants will learn black history, basic hygiene, prepare and taste cultural foods and walk with their families. Learners will be encouraged to complete the walk and recipes and to provide digital evidence which will be shared later.
Once signing up, you will receive a link to your child's new online platform and all of the information you need.
This groundbreaking experience starts on 3rd October 2020.
About the Facilitator: Black Heritage Walks Network
Black Heritage Walks Network was established in 2018, to champion the historical and modern-day achievements of the African-Caribbean community in the UK. The network has researched and created a series of black heritage trails across the West Midlands. The project started with the Madiba (Handsworth) Walk, launched as part of the Windrush 70th Anniversary celebrations.
The aim of the project is - To document migration stories and achievements of the black community in the UK, in particular, the post-war African Caribbean community -To inform & educate communities about the historical contribution of the black community - To encourage tourism within the highlighted cultural places of interest.
